DENTON, TX, July 17, 2020 – The Use-of-Force Ad Hoc Committee will host its first public input session at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 23. During the virtual session, community members are welcome to share their input by phone or online comment form.
Community engagement is a key component of Mayor Chris Watts’ pledge to “Commit to Action,” a national initiative led by former President Barack Obama and the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance. The upcoming session is an opportunity for residents to share their diverse experiences and stories as the Use-of-Force Ad Hoc Committee reviews Denton Police Department policies, practices, and training. Community input will be included in the Committee’s report of findings and recommendations to the Mayor and City Council.
To participate:
-
By phone, citizens wishing to speak to the Committee may call (940) 349-7800 beginning 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. If the caller wishes to receive a call back and speak to the Committee, the voice of each caller will be broadcast into the meeting during the public commenting time.
