The University of North Texas launched new programs to meet growing specializations in workforce needs.

BBA IN SPORT ENTERTAINMENT MANAGEMENT

A new Bachelor of Business Administration in sport entertainment management will allow students to take a front row seat in the sports industry.

The program offers students a chance at an exciting career in professional athletics and, through its collaboration with the Dallas Cowboys, unprecedented access to the most valuable sport franchise in the world.

The degree, which was previously a concentration under Business Studies, is housed in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business exclusively at UNT at Frisco, with extraordinary access to some of the hottest sports teams in the nation.

Graduates of the program will understand how to manage sport organizations in the 21st century, building sport brands, developing corporate partnerships, engaging fans and managing talent.

The program offers specializations in community and media relations, event operations, hospitality, merchandising and sales and marketing.

B.A. IN CRITICAL STUDIES IN MUSIC AND SOCIETY

A new Bachelor of Arts in critical studies in music and society will offer several various career paths to students without requiring who are interested in music but lack formal training in music.

The program, housed in the College of Music, will train students to communicate about music across broad and diverse audiences and conduct research needed to answer the questions facing music industries today.

The program culminates in a senior capstone project, which may be a traditional thesis or an alternative project like an internship tailored to a student’s professional goals.

The degree prepares graduates for careers in fields including law, medicine, music entrepreneurship, music production, performing arts journalism or criticism, performing arts nonprofits and academia.

DOCTOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

A new Doctor of Business Administration degree is a terminal degree for working professionals who are passionate about business leadership and success. It focuses on business practice and the problems faced by various industries.

Because the D.B.A. focuses on real-world circumstances, compared to the more theory focused Ph.D. programs, it provides new opportunities for advanced professionals and opens new doors into academics, research, strategy, consulting or enhanced leadership roles while continuing with their existing jobs.
