City Facilities Closed Nov. 26-27

DENTON, TX, Nov. 23, 2020 – While most City of Denton facilities are currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, other facilities may experience service alterations on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Please note the following with respect to specific City of Denton services and facilities.

Libraries

All libraries will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. Modified library services, including drive-up services, will resume on Saturday, Nov. 28. Visit library.cityofdenton.com to learn more about the library’s modified services due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Animal Services and Shelter

Animal Services and the Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. Animal Services will resume regular hours on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; call (940) 349-7594 for more information. To report an animal-related non-emergency, call (940) 349-8181 and select option 1. In case of an emergency, dial 911.

Parks and Recreation

The MLK Jr. Rec Center, North Lakes Rec Center, North Lakes Driving Range, Goldfield Tennis Center, and Denton Natatorium will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 through Sunday, Nov. 29. Services will resume on Monday, Nov. 30.

Denia Rec Center, Denton Civic Center, Denton Senior Center, Water Works Park, and the Civic Center Pool are currently closed to the public and will remain closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27.

Public Safety

Public safety personnel will be on duty during the holiday. The Denton Police Department non-emergency number is (940) 349-8181, and in case of an emergency, dial 911.

Utilities

Customer Service operations will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. To report a utility service emergency, call utilities dispatch at (940) 349-7000. Customers may call (940) 349-8700 on Monday, Nov. 30 to pay bills or discuss their service. Online bill pay will not be affected. Additionally, during the week of Thanksgiving, no service disconnections due to nonpayment of a utility bill will occur.

Solid Waste and Recycling

There will be no curbside trash, recycling, home chemical collections, or yard waste collection on Thursday, Nov. 26; collection will shift forward one day to Friday, Nov. 27.

The City of Denton Landfill will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and will operate with modified hours on Friday, Nov. 27—7 a.m. to noon. Currently, credit and debit cards are the only accepted forms of payment. Check www.dentonrecycles.com or for current schedule information.

Dyno Dirt Dyno Dirt facilities will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 through Saturday, Nov. 28. Regular sales hours will resume Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Airport

Airport administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. The air traffic control tower will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the airfield will remain open 24 hours per day. Flight services will be available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the holiday.
