Denton, TX – In a move aimed at revitalizing the downtown area and improving the experience for both visitors and locals, the City of Denton has officially launched the Downtown Denton Ambassador Program. The initiative, which kicked off on Monday, January 29, 2024, seeks to provide a range of services designed to maintain cleanliness, ensure safety, and offer hospitality throughout the city’s core.

Managed by Block by Block, a company specializing in urban improvement services, the program was established in response to the increasing demand for dedicated community support within Denton’s downtown corridor. “The City is excited to see this collaboration advance forward,” remarked City Manager Sara Hensley. “Our city staff works relentlessly to build a clean, safe, and vibrant community, and in partnership with our new ambassadors, we will help support the business and lifestyle experiences that make our downtown area unique.”

Ambassadors, identifiable by their bright red uniforms, will be a visible presence in the downtown area, offering a range of services including cleaning and maintenance tasks such as graffiti removal and sidewalk power-washing, as well as engaging with the community through assistance and support initiatives. These include health and welfare checks, referrals and engagement for the unhoused population, business outreach, and special events support.

The program promises to enhance public spaces and act as a reliable resource for those visiting, living, or working in Denton’s downtown. Operations are set to run daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., ensuring that the downtown area remains welcoming and well-maintained at all times. For those in need of assistance or services, requests can be made by contacting the program directly.

This initiative represents a significant step towards enhancing the quality of life in Denton’s downtown area, reflecting the city’s commitment to fostering a community that is both vibrant and welcoming for all.
