DENTON, TX – In light of the upcoming holiday season, the City of Denton has released its schedule for facility closures and service adjustments. This announcement is crucial for residents to plan their activities and avail city services accordingly.
Libraries and Animal Services Adjustments All city libraries will be closed from December 24 through December 26, resuming regular hours on December 27. They will again close on January 1, 2024, and resume on January 2. Similarly, Animal Services and the Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center will follow the same closure schedule. For animal-related non-emergencies, residents can call (940) 349-8181, while emergencies should be directed to 911.
Parks and Recreation Facilities Several recreational facilities, including the Denton Civic Center, Denia Rec Center, and others, will be closed on December 24, 25, 31, and January 1. The North Lakes Driving Range and the Denton Natatorium will have modified schedules during these days. The Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 24 and December 31 but will be closed on December 25 and January 1.
Public Safety and Utilities Public safety services, including the Denton Police Department, will remain operational throughout the holidays. Utility customer service, however, will be closed on December 25, 26, and January 1, with emergency dispatch available at (940) 349-7000.
Solid Waste & Recycling Services The Home Chemical Collections Drop Off & Re-use Store and the City of Denton Landfill will be closed on December 25 and January 1. There will be no curbside collection services on these dates, with collections delayed by one day during the respective weeks.
Airport Operations While the airport administrative offices will be closed on December 25, 26, and January 1, the air traffic control tower will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The airfield will remain open 24 hours a day, with Airport Operations available at (940) 349-7722.
